Our Practice

Dr. Rick N. Hattori OD

Dr. Rick Hattori graduated from the University of California Berkeley School Of Optometry in 1970.  After completing his service with the US Navy in 1973, Dr. Hattori moved to Monterey, with his family, where he opened his practice at 464 Pacific Street. The practice adopted the name of Hattori Vision Optometry in 1988 and moved to its current location at 757 Pacific Street in 1995.

Dr. Rick practices general optometry, and is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. Dr. Rick is also a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association and Monterey Bay Optometric Society.

Away from the office, Dr. Rick has proudly sponsored Monterey Pony Baseball teams for over two decades, and continues to do so.   He also enjoys woodwork, reading, and poker.  But his pride and joy is spending time with grandson Joshua. 


Dr. Ellie W. Hattori OD

Dr. Eleanor Wong Hattori graduated from the University of California Berkeley School Of Optometry in 1970. After graduating, Dr. Ellie practiced at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento then took some time off to raise their two children, Jenny and Tommy. Once the children were grown, Dr. Ellie began practicing again in 1985.

Dr. Ellie has limited her practice to the fitting of contact lens and frequently participates in contact lens fitting and lens care studies. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association. Dr. Ellie is an active member of the Monterey Bay Optometric Society.  She was its first female President and continues to serve on its board.  Dr. Ellie also speaks Cantonese and enjoys baking, calligraphy, scrapping, stamping, walking and Tai Chi.  Along with Dr. Rick, she spends as much time as possible with little Joshua.


Dr. Telma Barseghian OD

Dr. Telma Barseghian graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry in 1994. She joined Hattori Vision one  year later. Dr. Barseghian practices full scope optometry and is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. She also speaks Armenian and Persian.

Dr. Barseghian enjoys running, kayaking, reading, and spending time with her husband and two children.


Dr. Elizabeth Anderson OD

Dr. Elizabeth Anderson graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry in 1992. She took a break from practicing when her children were young, but has been back for 8 years. Dr. Anderson practices general optometry and is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. She is also a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association.

Dr. Anderson is married with two children. She enjoys stamping, scrapping, cooking, walking her dog at thebeach, and volunteering in her children's school.


Dr. Trevor K. Fogg OD

Dr. Trevor Fogg graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry in 2007. Dr. Fogg practices full scope optometry and is certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) as well as the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. At Cal he incorporated his passion for athletics by helping design a Sports Vision program which worked closely with the Cal baseball team. Dr. Fogg is a member of the American Optometric Association, its Contact Lens & Cornea section, Sports Vision section and the California Optometric Association.

He is very excited to have returned to his hometown of the Monterey Peninsula with his wonderful wife Erin and their son Rowan.


Matt Boucher

Matt Boucher has been with Hattori Vision for over 13 years. Matt was born and raised in Monterey. His first encounter with our office was as a young patient, and now he is our office administrator.  His interests include music, art, baking and shopping.


Laurel Marotta

Laurel Marotta has been the billing manager for Hattori Vision for almost 20 years. She married into a musically talented family and has 3 children. The highlight of her life is enjoying her 3 grandchildren, and she also enjoys jewelry design for all seasons, especially earrings. She loves Zumba and is a big fan of the San Francisco Giants!


Amy Groner

Amy Groner has been an optician at Hattori Vision for 2 1/2 years. She recently started volunteering at the Monterey Police Department. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her niece and nephew. She is a big fan of the San Francisco Giants.


Chelsea Schuh

Chelsea Schuh joined the Hattori Vision team 5 years ago as a technician and office support. She is currently in nursing school. She enjoys spending time with all 5 of her pets and is a big Dallas Cowboys fan, especially Tony Romo!


Hiromi Yamaguchi

Hiromi Yamaguchi joined Hattori Vision over 2 years ago. She works as a technician as well as office support. She loves taking walks with her family and her dog Blue. Her favorite quote is from the Dalai Lama: "My religion is simple, my religion is kindness."


Richard Marquez

Richard Marquez has been with Hattori Vision for almost 1 1/2 years. He works as a technician, an optician as well as office support. He enjoys travel, golf, wine tasting, baseball games, and is a deacon at his church.


Emma Nuss

Emma Nuss has worked at Hattori Vision for 2 years. She is currently studying Statistics and Marine Science at UC San Diego. She works for us when she is home for school breaks. She works as a technician as well as office support.


Michelle Yamaguchi

Michelle Yamaguchi joined Hattori Vision 9 months ago and has been preparing our patient charts and filing. She is also a student at MPC. Her hobbies include reading and coaching a local Pop Warner cheerleading squad.
