Dr. Rick N. Hattori OD
Dr. Rick Hattori received his doctorate with honors from the University of California Berkeley School Of Optometry in 1970. After completing his service with the US Navy in 1973, Dr. Hattori moved to Monterey, with his family, where he opened his practice at 464 Pacific Street. The practice adopted the name of Hattori Vision Optometry in 1988 and moved to its current location at 757 Pacific Street in 1995.
Dr. Rick practiced general optometry, and was certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. Dr. Rick is still a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association and Monterey Bay Optometric Society. Dr. Rick has proudly sponsored Monterey Pony Baseball teams for over three decades, and continues to do so. |
Dr. Rick has volunteered for the Monterey Peninsula Meals on Wheels for over 40 years and is the longest serving Meals on Wheels driver.
Dr, Rick also enjoys gardening, woodwork, reading, and poker. But his pride and joy is spending time with grandsons Josh, Rower and granddaughers March and Jessica.

Dr. Ellie W. Hattori OD
Dr. Eleanor (Ellie) Wong Hattori received her doctorate from the University of California Berkeley School Of Optometry.
Dr. Ellie limited her practice to the fitting of contact lens. She frequently participated in contact lens clinical studies and has authored numerous articles in optometric journals. Dr. Ellie was named an Optometric Business Innovator in the Contact Lens category in 2013 by Review of Optometry Business and Vision Monday. She is still a member of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association and the Monterey Bay Optometric Society. Dr. Ellie enjoys baking, calligraphy, book binding, walking, Tai Chi and line dancing. |
One of Dr. Ellie's passion is serving our community. She has served as President of Monterey Peninsula Quota International, PTA President of several local schools, Co-Chair of El Estero Presbyterian Asian Arts Festival, and Chair of the Monterey Obon Festival. Currently she is a president of Sea Scribes.
Dr. Ellie is happiest when she and Dr. Rick are spending time together with their 4 grandchildren.
